George Everest Peak, Park Estate Hathipaon, Mussoorie, Uttarakhand 248179
Camp George Everest is located at the historic George Everest Peak in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand — the very estate where Sir George Everest, the Surveyor General of India who gave Mount Everest its name, once lived and worked. Perched at an altitude of 7,000 feet, the campsite offers uninterrupted 360-degree views of the Doon Valley on one side and the snow-capped Himalayan ranges on the other.
Founded in 2017 by Mr. Shoeb — a hotelier, outdoor instructor, and disaster management professional — the camp started as a small tented setup and has grown into one of Mussoorie's most reviewed camping destinations with 700+ Google Reviews and a 4.9-star rating.
George Everest Peak is considered one of Uttarakhand's most photographed viewpoints. The peak sits at the edge of a ridge where the Doon Valley drops away dramatically, giving you a bird's-eye view of Dehradun's city lights at night — a view that makes the bonfire experience here unlike anywhere else in the region.
The trek to the campsite takes about 1.5-2 hours through pine and deodar forests. Once at camp, guests are set up in Quechua tents with sleeping bags, mattresses, and camp chairs. The evening begins with a self-cooking activity (for those who want it), followed by dinner prepared by local Pahari chefs using regional ingredients.
After dinner, the bonfire is lit with the entire Doon Valley twinkling below. A stargazing session with a telescope follows — the location's minimal light pollution makes it one of the best spots in North India for observing stars, planets, and meteor showers (the Geminids in December are spectacular from here).
Mornings start with a sunrise summit trek to the very top of the peak for panoramic Himalayan views including Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Kedarnath ranges, followed by breakfast at camp before packing up.
